Uzbek Celiac / Coeliac Gluten Free Restaurant Card

This Uzbek foreign language restaurant card enables celiacs / coeliacs to tell the hotel, cafe or restaurant where they are eating out about their food requirements for a gluten free diet.

Uzbek is spoken in the following countries: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Russia, China and Israel.

Getting gluten free food in Uzbekistan was no problem. Actually, apart from the ubiquitous bread, there isn’t a lot of gluten in their food. The typical meal starts with salad, then soup, which 9 times out of 10 is clear and unthickened (generally speaking they’re not wealthy enough to add unnecessary flour), and the main course is likely to be grilled meat kebab/shashlik style. It is however all very fatty, so it does mean our western tummies suffer anyway! The people in Uzbekistan are very friendly and do their best to accommodate your wishes as much as possible, so we survived twelve days away without the slightest gluten-pang.
