Gluten free breakfast recipes

Without a hefty gluten free breakfast, I'm useless by 10am, especially if our toddler decides to have a 6am start! So I always go for the slow-burn, low glycaemic load (GL) brekky - a bowl of cornflakes is like putting gasoline on the fire for me - a brief flare of energy then a hollow black hole of despair ;-)

So you'll find the gluten free breakfast recipes below tend towards the larger breakfast. If you're looking for a light bite to start the day, you'll have to get your breakfast ideas elsewhere ;-)

Millet porridge - gluten free breakfast
A good whole grain breakfast, best cooked overnight in the crock pot or slow cooker, and fantastic with a sprinkling of nuts and dried fruit.

Gluten free breakfast - rice & buckwheat porridge
A little bit faster burn, but sling a load of nuts in their and you're rocking until lunch.

Fruit quinoa porridge - tasty gluten free breakfast
Another take on the millet porridge above, although it cooks quicker. A splash of low GL agave syrup helps overcome the quinoa-y-ness, if you're bothered by it.

Breakfast millet burgers
Very tasty with a few rashers of bacon and an egg or two - and perfect for the gluten free lunchbox later on.

Breakfast pancake recipe
A pretty strange and original breakfast pancake, but super-tasty and very filling.

Gluten free, egg free pancake recipe
I like to make breakfast pancakes for the family once a week, and am always messing around with different mixes of gluten free flours. (Which makes my pancakes somewhat unpredictable :-) This mix is the best yet, and will take some beating.

Savoury sardine and sweetcorn pancakes
Weird, weird, weird, right? Yup! But also very tasty, especially with a little tomato ketchup. Oh, and did I mention omega 3's?

Breakfast being the most important meal of the day (along with lunch and dinner of course), I'm always looking for new ideas, so let me know if you have any gluten free breakfasts you think I simply must try!
