Kelkin Gluten Free Porridge Reviewed

Kelkin gluten free porridgeKelkin Gluten Free Porridge Ingredients
Rice flakes, millet flakes, guar gum.

We feed Kelkin's gluten free porridge to the kids several times a week, so I must have made it a few hundred times.

It's pretty easy - the only thing to watch is not to overcook it which can make it a bit slimy. Usually we cook for about 4-5 minutes, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then loosen it with a little more rice milk.

It generally goes down well (depending on the mood on the day of course), and we tend to bulk it out with a few interesting eating motivators and interest stimulators.

Also, because it's predominantly rice flakes, it's pretty high GL-wise and so doesn't last in the tum as long as it might. So we often stick in a spoon of nut butter (cashew is good), and some almond powder. A few sultanas and you've got a warming, filling bowl of goodness.

Kelkin Gluten Free Porridge - Summary

Easy to use, reliable, all natural breakfast gluten free goodness. With a few choice additions, a great winter breakfast.

Taste: 6/10 - bland without additions
Texture: 7/10 (more millet, less rice would improve this)
"Doesn't make me feel sorry for myself for having to eat gluten free food factor": 6/10
Overall: 6.5/10 rising to 8/10 if you get creative with the extra bits
